Getting started
What is ChatHome.ai?
ChatHome.ai is a browser-based home design studio. Describe a home to generate an editable 3D concept, refine a generated plan through chat, or use the tools to draw and edit by hand.
Do I need design experience?
You can begin by describing the rooms and features you want. The getting-started guides explain the main steps and tools as you develop the concept.
Do I need an account?
You can use the manual editor, Explore mode, and basic exports without one. AI generation, named cloud designs, sharing controls, and collaboration require an account.
Do I need to install an app?
The studio runs in your web browser. The walkthrough instructions use keyboard and pointer controls; start there when learning to move around.
Creating with AI
What should I include in a brief?
Start with plot dimensions, the entrance side, rooms, and floors. Add exact room dimensions when essential, then a few preferences for finishes or outdoor space. See a complete example.
Can I upload a floor-plan image?
Image, PDF, and DWG floor-plan recognition are not available. You can describe a home, draw a layout using known measurements, or import a ChatHome.ai JSON design file.
Will every detail in my brief be included?
Some requests depend on the space available. The result notes explain changes, substitutions, and missing items. Explicit room width and depth must fit or generation reports that the layout cannot be made. Learn how to read your design results.
Can I change the design through chat?
Yes. Send a revision request for a generated plan and review What changed. A revision can rearrange other parts of the layout and may replace manual edits. Save an alternative before changing direction.
What is the difference between Ask and a revision?
Ask explains the generated plan without changing the scene. A revision creates an updated result and uses a generation if successful. Ask may not reflect later hand edits to the scene.
Why can I not see Generate?
The control appears after you sign in when generation is enabled for the service. The manual studio remains available if generation is unavailable.
Plans and usage
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Explorer is free; the Home Pass, Pro, and Studio tiers arrive with a later release. Compare plans and allowances.
Do questions or failed attempts use my allowance?
No. Successful AI generations and revisions count. Failed attempts, Ask questions, and manual edits do not. Daily usage is measured over a rolling 24 hours. See a worked example of generation usage.
Is the structure report a paid extra?
No. The preliminary structure report and clear result notes are available on every plan. The report is indicative only, never an engineered design or a safety sign-off. Learn how to read the structure report.
Saving and sharing
Where is my work saved?
The current scene saves in your browser. Sign in and save it as a named cloud design to keep it in your account. Export JSON for a separate editable backup. Follow the saving guide.
Can I restore any earlier version?
There is no automatic version history. Solo editor undo works within the current session, and Undo this turn can restore an earlier generated result when available. Keep separate saved copies for alternatives you want to retain. Keep and compare separate design alternatives.
Does someone need an account to view my design?
No, if you give them a public read-only share link. Anyone with the link can look around the latest saved scene. Shared pages carry a small Made with ChatHome.ai badge.
Can someone help me edit?
Yes. Add an existing account holder as an editor on your cloud design. The project appears under Shared with me in their account; no invitation email is sent. Choose and manage the right access.
What happens if we edit the same object together?
The later change takes effect and a notice explains the conflict. Undo is disabled during live collaboration. Read about working together.
Downloads and next steps
Which files can I download?
PNG images (including 2× / 4× high-resolution images), the PDF plan sheet, JSON design files, GLB models, DXF footprints, and IFC building models are all included while billing is off. The structure report is available to everyone. See format details.
Can I build directly from the generated design?
Use it to develop and communicate a concept. It does not provide construction-ready drawings, building services, or a structural approval. Have qualified professionals develop and check the project before construction.
